Westside Gunn completa la sua celebre serie con “10”
Quando Westside Gunn ha realizzato il primo volume di “Hitler Wears Hermes”, dieci anni fa, Griselda era ancora un progetto da definire, da plasmare. L’artista di Buffalo ha quindi modellato il suo progetto con Conway The Machine e Benny The Butcher, stabilendo un trend che, a prescindere dai gusti, ha ridato linfa all’Hip-Hop, invaso da pubblicazioni con protagonisti i tre. Lo scorso anno, con “HWH8”, WSG ha interrotto una tabella di marcia fittissima, dando esplicita conferma di un cambio di direzione in favore di altre attività correlate alla realtà Griselda; ciononostante, ecco arrivare “10”, titolo che celebra appunto i dieci anni trascorsi e va a collocarsi dopo quell’ottavo volume, che di fatto – essendo un doppio – faceva anche da nono. It’s only right that we end here. All special things get a memorial release – spiega Westside Gunn. The last double album was going to be the final one, but it felt weird leaving off at nine and not ten. I had to celebrate this series which has meant so much to fans. Everything I do sounds nothing like the last thing I did. That’s the creative in me, and I’m always going to push the culture forward. I’m ending this on a really special note with ten.
